Choosing a Heavy Duty Tarp
Mil Thickness
Mil thickness determines how thick your tarp is. While some lightweight tarps can be 5-6 mils, heavy-duty tarps can be between 12 mil and 20 mil thick. Thicker tarps are more durable and less prone to tears or holes.
Fabric Weight and Size
Fabric weight and size are also important to consider. You will see heavy duty tarps labeled by their fabric weight for square yard and their size. While you can find standard sizes, like 14 x 14 heavy tarps and 12’ super heavy duty tarps, you can also customize the size and shape to your needs.
Additional Features
Additional features should also be a consideration. You can find heavy duty tarps that are also UV resistant, mildew resistant, waterproof, and even fire retardant.
